Forensics Team:
The UNC Charlotte Forensics team competes in intercollegiate speech and debate tournaments as well as sponsors on campus public speaking events and competitions.
The only requirement is the desire to become a better communicator . If you are pursuing a career that will require excellent public speaking skills, use the UNC Charlotte Forensics team as a way to hone your communication skills.
You will also have the opportunity to represent UNC Charlotte on a national level as you compete against students from other colleges and universities from all over the United States. On average, students prepare two to three speeches to compete with in about three or four tournaments a semester.
You will be able to compete using the speech of your choice , including: informative, persuasive, after dinner, dramatic interpretation, prose, poetry, and more.
You will also have the opportunity to apply for the Brycie Baber Scholarship, a renewable $2500 a year scholarship . Students who make a demonstrable contribution to the forensics team and who remain in good academic standing are eligible to receive the award for four consecutive years .
Team meetings are held in the Communication Studies Lab, Colvard 1018-A, on Fridays from 1:00-3:00.
